According to reports, three students and three adults were killed and numerous others were injured in a gun attack at a school in the US state of Tennessee on Monday before the lady culprit was shot dead by authorities.

According to the BBC, the incident occurred at the Covenant School in Nashville, a private Christian school for students in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade, when the students were about 11 or 12 years old.

According to local media, three youngsters were carried to the local Vanderbilt University Medical Center with gunshot wounds and were confirmed dead.

Nashville police claimed they “engaged” the shooter, who was later killed.

Later, Nashville police reported in a press conference that six people had been slain – three children and three adults – and that no further victims had been found. There were no other details supplied.

According to authorities, the shooter was a girl in her twenties. Her identity has not been revealed. They claimed she was equipped with two assault-style rifles and a pistol.

The police stated they got reports of an active shooter at 10.13 a.m. (local time, 8.43 p.m. IST), engaged the shooter in a “lobby-like space” on the school’s second floor, and neutralised her by 10.27 a.m. local time.

The school has roughly 200 students, according to its website.
