According to state media, Iran‘s naval forces detected an unauthorised entry by a US Navy “spy plane” into the country’s airspace and told the aircraft to leave.

After the Iranian Navy’s warning, the US Navy’s EP-3E aircraft flying above the Sea of Oman departed the country’s airspace and returned to international air routes, the Iranian Army’s Navy’s public relations department said on Sunday, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency.

The US has no quick response, according to the Xinhua news agency.

The Lockheed EP-3 is an electronic signals reconnaissance derivative of the US Navy’s P-3 Orion.
