According to official media, Iran’s representative to the United Nations stated that Tehran will not hesitate to respond to any threat from Israel with a “decisive response.”

Iran’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, made the remarks in a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the head of the UN Security Council on Wednesday, after two officers of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Syria last week, according to the semi-official Mehr news agency on Thursday.

He called the occurrence “heinous crimes” and “another glaring example of persistent Israeli aggressions against and blatant violation of international law on Syrian land.”

According to Xinhua, Iravani stated that Israel continues its “aggressive activities” against Syria without regard for the consequences or retribution from the international community.

He urged the international community, notably the UN Security Council, to take strong action to cease such “violations” and hold Israel accountable for any “violations” of international law.

According to Syrian state television, Israel launched two missile assaults on Damascus-area targets last Thursday and Friday.

The IRGC strongly criticised the Israeli missile assaults, stating they violated an independent Arab country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
