Landslides in western province of Indonesia have killed at least 17 people and left 41 others missing, according to an official on Wednesday.
On Monday, a natural disaster struck Natuna Regency. Heavy rains were responsible for the accident, according to Syariffuddin Muhammad, secretary of Natuna disaster management and mitigation department, according to Xinhua news agency.
“Six more bodies were found on Wednesday, so the total casualties reached 17,” he told Xinhua over phone.
The victims’ search and rescue would continue. According to Syariffuddin, the calamity has prompted over 1,000 residents to evacuate their homes.
