Laos will hold a variety of large-scale activities to commemorate the Lao New Year in 2023, following three years of events being cancelled or scaled back because to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Lao New Year, which will be celebrated from April 14 to 16, is the most important event in the Lao calendar and a period of unending fun for the Laotians.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has directed the Ministries of Industry and Commerce, Agriculture and Forestry, central government agencies, and provincial government offices to guarantee that enough food and general consumer items are available to meet demand during the event.
The PMO also directed relevant sectors to monitor the pricing of food and other commodities for sale in markets, as well as to regulate the prices of services like as public transportation and entrance fees to tourist destinations, to prevent sellers from exploiting increased demand to raise prices.
Authorities throughout the country were also encouraged to have security personnel on duty throughout the Lao New Year vacation to preserve peace and social order.
To ensure further safety, the Ministry of Public Security was instructed to collaborate with the Ministries of Public Works and Transport and Information, Culture, and Tourism to allot traffic routes and provide help to international tourists.
The Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism will ensure that tourism attractions are well equipped to serve both Laotian and foreign visitors.
